{"id":7764,"date":"2021-11-30T09:19:41","date_gmt":"2021-11-30T08:19:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lsacademy.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=7764"},"modified":"2022-10-14T14:19:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-14T13:19:50","slug":"writing-science-for-lay-audiences-2","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/lsacademy.site-dev.it\/it\/product\/writing-science-for-lay-audiences-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Writing Science for Lay Audiences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This workshop <span>takles <\/span>the considerable challenge of writing scientific <span>content <\/span>suitable for a lay or nontechnical audience: lay summaries of research and clinical evaluations, technical instructions for equipment use, newsletters, web-based articles, instructions, consent forms \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Writing readable science for a lay audience can be difficult. <span>C<\/span>ommunicating complex ideas to a lay audience requires us to think even harder about our audience: their level of understanding, vocabulary that they are comfortable with and the messages we wish them to take home. We need a knowledge of the tactics that improve readability: logical presentation of relevant ideas, clear and simple writing style, good organisation of documents, and attractive and helpful formatting \u00e2\u20ac\u201c to include appropriate visual aids when appropriate. Can we measure readability and therefore have quantitative targets against which to benchmark our writing? Are there tools to help us write more readably?
